Nothing To Say, and No Time To Say It

January 22, 2004 - 12:39 PM Who Is Robert Zimmerman? This, my friends, was a question forced upon me this morning while trying to buy a cup of coffee. At Starbucks. “What would you like?” “Grande drip please…” “Answer the question.” She tells me pointing to a sign on my immediate right. :::Who is Robert Zimmerman?:::: I know this one. But why do I have to answer it? It’s early. My brain doesn’t normally switch to the on position until after 8:00 and that’s WITH coffee. What if I don’t FEEL like answering the question? What if I didn’t KNOW the answer? Maybe the lady just wants to feel superior to the customers who have no clue who Robert Zimmerman is. Maybe she is a complete holierthanthou bitch who gets her jollies by asking dumb questions to dumb people so she can look down her nose at them…. secretly laughing behind closed fist.… But the joke’s on her…cuz she works at STARBUCKS!!! Not the most prestigious job in the world. So, if she crowns herself the little Trivia Queen with her diamond encrusted staff and ruby studded tiara, then whatever. Have at it. But, the question. I answered it correctly and got a free…yes FREE coffee! And if you haven’t noticed, Starbucks coffee is NOT cheap. Technically, I won like a buck sixty-five. That’s like a California lottery ticket and a half.! So maybe she wasn’t such a bitch after all. And the question….well, it’s one of those aliases…like how Sting’s real name is Ferris Beuller and how Bjork’s real name is Buddy Epson. Answer it correctly and get a free coffee… At one of the three Starbucks by my house. Go. Now. HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!
It’s the year of the Monkey in case you didn’t know. That’s MY year. Ima monkey. What does this mean? I’m not sure. All I know is I’m down from about 35 emails a day to about about 3 now that our Orient offices are all shut down for their party time. I hope they party like it’s…um…Year of the Monkey…
And I didn’t go to Hollywood last night. Things didn’t work out for me. But my other half went and I was magically transported stage side by the aid of a cellular phone. It was a trip listening to her incredible voice while watching Simon tear apart retardo auditioners on American Idol. And then my singing friend did a cover of “Somebody To Love” by Queen. And it made me proud. I loves me some Queen. And King aint bad either. 1 That's so headgear...
